Scholarships

The Board of Directors of the Peter Wentz Farmstead Society invites applications every year for two distinct scholarships.

The first scholarship is the Gamon Scholarship presented in honor of Albert T. and Elizabeth R. Gamon

The academic award is available to an outstanding student pursuing a degree related to Pennsylvania German History. This five thousand dollar scholarship, available on a one-time basis, is awarded to general excellence to include academic achievement, participation in extra-curricular activities and volunteerism in the area of Pennsylvania German History, Cultural Studies, Decorative Arts and/or related Museum Studies.

Students who are completing their Master’s Degree in these areas of study are also invited to apply.

The second scholarship is the Peter Wentz Farmstead Society Scholarship Award.

This academic scholarship of one thousand dollars each is awarded to graduating high school seniors who have served at least 40 hours as a volunteer at the Farmstead the year prior to the scholarship award. There is no requirement that the specific field of study be Pennsylvanian German History.

The Scholarship Committee will review the applications; awards will be made at their discretion.  The Committee’s decision is final.

Applications must be filled out completely and legibly.  All required documentation must be attached.  The applications are due by March 1 of each year.

Applications may be dropped off at the Farmstead or mailed.
