Experience an 18th century kitchen garden that was designed to replicate what would have been found at the time. Note that the well-drained garden is easily convenient for women of the household. The garden contains a diverse planting of vegetables and herbs for the family’s use. Raised beds with boards provide easier maintenance.
Today’s garden is tended by a dedicated group of volunteers under the auspices of the Peter Wentz Farmstead Society. We try to ensure that all plantings represent those grown in 18th century kitchen gardens, and our research is on-going.
